La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Were the big, bad Capitals too mean last night?

Last night was another satisfying two points for the Capitals and another win in La Coupe Hauxer. Making it more satisfying was that it came on the heels of this completely one-sided AP article about Ovi the Pengyunz too much. Who knew that Gary Bettman ran the AP? Funny thing was, Ovi stayed out of the box; Malkin cannot make the same claim. Ovi also had two goals and an assist. Alexander Semin chipped in one too.

Is the coach fired yet Sam?

What a Shocker

Oooooohhhhhhhh, the Capitals are just so unstopable, compare a 7-1 rout to a 2-1 OT win with 9 starters on the DL. Capitals have been overated all season, and that game was just a fluke. I am hoping to see 2 healthy teams next time we meet. Enjoy your time in second place cause it ain't gonna last.

Here's a text message for Wiley: Flyers lose!

I got this funny text message from Wiley yesterday. Having a little punctuation trouble?

It got even funnier after the Capitals beat the Flyers last night in a gimmick at sold out Verizon Center.

The Inky write-up about the game was funny too:
A healthy Washington team that started the game with a 17-1-1 record at home couldn't put away a depleted Flyers group, despite an early power-play goal, and the Capitals needed the shootout to grab the extra point, defeating the Flyers, 2-1, in the Verizon Center last night.
How brave of the depleted Flyers to get a whole point in the standings! After all the Caps are soooo healthy that players like Tomas Fleischmann and Sergei Fedorov must have just been taking the night off for fun. Funny, the Caps have been playing at about 66% of their opening night roster for about two months and they are on a tear. They are not picking up loser points along the way either.
