La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Were the big, bad Capitals too mean last night?

Last night was another satisfying two points for the Capitals and another win in La Coupe Hauxer. Making it more satisfying was that it came on the heels of this completely one-sided AP article about Ovi the Pengyunz too much. Who knew that Gary Bettman ran the AP? Funny thing was, Ovi stayed out of the box; Malkin cannot make the same claim. Ovi also had two goals and an assist. Alexander Semin chipped in one too.

Is the coach fired yet Sam?

I did not watch any of the game, so I cannot comment specifically (I am recovering from a head cold).

But, I believe he could be, although it would not be totally his fault. This team, for whatever reason, doesn't have the "it" factor. I don't know if its chemistry, the wrong locker-room mix, etc. But if Therrien were fired it would simply be because you can't fire all the players. He isn't the only reason the team has sucked for the last 7 weeks, but then again, he hasn't fixed it either.
