La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Caps over .500 in La Coupe Hauxer after doubling up Pengyunz

Beating a rival in their barn (damn near literally) is good news, but since this is just the regular season, I'm not getting too excited. Got love that pretty pass from Alexander Semin to Tomas Fleischmann for the game winner.

Alex Ovechkin had a couple of goals too.

As Ted Leonsis likes to say "miles to go before we sleep..."

Caps beat Flyers again

He's happy you lost

Well Wiley, despite the Capitals spotting the lead twice in the first period, your Flyers couldn't get it done. In fact, they got routed, don't let that Danielle Briere garbage time goal fool you. Two goals by Brooks Laich, one by Alexander Semin, Mike Knuble and of course Alex Ovechkin's penalty shot goal -- not a good day to be Ray Emery or anyone in orange and black. But look on the bright side, at least Emery didn't go crazy...this time.

A bet paid off

SWATARA, Pa. -- Wiley celebrated winning a 2008 Capitals vs. Flyers playoff series side bet by wearing the wrong team shirt.

It took a long time, but for the record the winner declined opportunities to take the winnings of that playoff series. You may recall that Wiley and I bet a milkshake on that series which came at the height of There Will be Blood. So, there you go, I made good on it during a surprise trip to the Harrisburg region.

Back to the present, Caps vs. Flyers from the Phone Booth at 3 p.m. today.

High scores, high action, high frickin time the Flyers get another win!

Yes, last night the Flyers went to Pittsburg and took down the mighty Penguins with a 7-4 victory. The Flyers have been on a terror lately winning 6 of their last 8, and thankfully one that actually makes a difference. I'm not gonna get all high and mighty myself, cause I know there is a lot of season left.
