La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Caps sweep Pens? For now at least

Well done, Washington Capitals, well done. For the first time ever, the Caps got a regular season sweep of the flightless birds. That pushes our nation's Capitals into first place in La Coupe Hauxer. Not a bad positioning to start the playoffs in. This is far from over though and I would not be surprised to see another matchup in the future.

We have miles to go before we sleep...

You will not see another matchup with the Penguins however. The Pens haven't quit, they just don't have it this year. They are a tired, slow bunch with a defense playing terrible and goaltending which is playing worse. Malkin is hurt, Gonchar and Talbot are clearly not 100%, Billy Guerin is a step slow, and I have no idea what's wrong with our goalies.

I wish the rest of yinz luck in the playoffs. It looks like I'll be buying lunch at this point, because I'm not sure the Pens even make it out of round 1.
