La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Well that stunk

I like Alex Ovechkin -- a lot. In some ways he reminds me of Peter Bondra, who would throw his hands up and a huge smile would come on his face whenever he scored. Ovechkin is like that, but he does it when he thinks he scores, which sadly, is not good enough. Hopefully, he will be more like Bondra tonight when we head to MCI Center to see the Caps play the hated Tampa Bay Lightning.

Good effort by the Caps to come back though. I am sure Sam will be quite happy to gloat about this one.

Standings

Wiley's Flyers have a 1/2 game edge over Brad's Devils. Sam & Jake's Penguins have third all to themselves while William & Fritz's Captials are mired in the basement as expected.

I have posted the standings in the right navigation area, which is where they will reside from now on.

Ovechkin vs. Crosby!

Tonight in Pittsburgh is a pivotal La Coupe Hauxer matchup -- Alex Ovechkin's Capitals at Sidney Crosby's Pengyunz. Off Wing Opinion has links to all the articles from both markets. Apparently, there is a little bit more than just La Coupe Hauxer riding on this one...

Hopefully, the Caps can finally draw some blood in La Coupe Hauxer, since they are currently 0-3. It should be fun either way since Sidney Crosby finally gets to measure himself aganist the best rookie in hockey, league awards not withstanding.

Caps drop first La Coupe Hauxer battle

Last night Wiley's Flyers crushed the Caps (The Wash. Times), 8 - 1. The Post does not even have the game story online -- it was that bad.

So, Sam will be delighted to know that his Pengyunz are no longer in last place. They won earlier this week over Brad's Devils.
