La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Standings?

How exactly did I go 1-2 in a home-and-home against the Caps?

Ooo, even better. I went 0-2 in the home and home against the Caps. FYI, when a team scores 3 goals and their opponents score 2, that is not considered a loss.

When things are at there darkest it takes a brave man to kick back and party.

I will pay my dues at the end of the regular season, once a winner has been named for the cup. just make sure my screwdriver is nice and polished, so I can take it and stab the owner, coach, and every player on the team. This could be far and away the absolute lowest the La Coupe could ever get, I am well on track for having a perfect season, perfectly horrible. How many wins? Zero, Donut, Goose Egg, Nada, Zip, Ziltch, Not A Single, Solitary Frinkin' Win! Hallaluya, Holy Shit! Where's the Tylenol?

The great news is...

...the Flyers are still winless. They have four games left to get their first W. Given that all their games are againist the Pengyunz or Devils they still have a chance to make a difference in La Coupe Hauxer.

By the way, when are you buying us dinner Wiley?

Caps win -- good news, bad news

In their final visit to the Meadowlands, the Nation's Capitals beat the Devils 4-2 (ESPN). The good news is the Capitals evened their La Coupe Hauxer record to 5-5. The bad news is the loss put the Pengyunz in first place.

The second part of the home and home is tomorrow in Chinatown.

Caps vs. Pens II

Once again the Nation's Capitals and the flightless birds are facing off tomorrow. The Caps are reeling, now sitting at the point we expected them to be in the standings. Annoying to be sure, but these things happen and at least we know they are not leaving town.

Meanwhile, the Pengyunz are on fire, finally playing like they were expected to last year. They'll probably win. Of course, they are also threatening to move to a smaller TV market with barely any hockey history.

There are bigger stakes tomorrow though. If my calculations (I know, I need to update the standings) are correct a Capitals win clinches at least third place in the La Coupe Hauxer standings meaning that Wiley officially owes us dinner. So, even if Pittsburgh loses, Sam and Jake still win.

Face off 1 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet.
