One season ends as another begins
Would anyone be interested in doing the exact same thing as La Coupe Hauxer, but for baseball season. Of course we would have to come up with a new name and maybe a trophey. Since, baseball is more American than hockey, it would have to be really obnoxiously American, like, "This Bats for You". I'm just spit-balling here. Any takers?

I'm interested, but there is a bit of a problem -- nobody is playing the Yankees this year, so Brad can't be a part of it and what fun would it be without Brad? Even though he seems to win La Coupe every season.
Sam and I already have a Nats vs. Pirates wager (which I still have to pay off, next time we cross paths).
Plus, the Yankees are my family's team going back almost 100 years and they are still my AL one -- I cannot root against them.
If everyone liked NL teams, this would be simple. Brad, go ahead and adopt the Marlins or something!

The Yankees are playing the Pirates this year, but only 3 games.
Plus, I think I now hate the Pirates, so it I'd need a new team as well.

I should say I'd need a new NL team. I have already been approved as a member of the Yankee fan Club.

Sam swore off the Pirates last season. And why should I have to abandon my team just because there's in the AL?

Sam: It shouldn't be too hard to figure a new NL team for you.
Brad: This doesn't work if the teams don't play each other. That's what is so great about La Coupe Hauxer, all the teams play each other.

we could pick one AL and one NL then average the 2. This is getting far more complicated than I originally anticipated.

INdeed, this is too complicated and that may not work because there are potentially three people who would pick Nats and Yankees.

Would it help if I jumped on two other "netural" teams, to make this work? I'll go for the Cubbies and Indians. The Cubbies are the loveable losers, and for one year I played as the "indians" in little league.
BTW, how much will it pain Will to root for the Flightless birds tonight?

Meh, that kind of takes the fun out of it, it isn't as personal.

Also, it is never hard to root against the Flyers.

Its sort of aggravating to have your team win the Eastern Conference but not even win the La Coupe Hauxer competition....But I'm ready for next year.
Since Wiley clinched a 2nd off-season with the Stanley Screw Driver again last night, it makes sense to start thinking about a get together at the Vienna Inn (particularly with new babies arriving this summer, trips being planned, etc). I assume we are looking at a weekend get-together again?

I don't think Wiley has clinched yet, apparently they have two more LCH games. If they win both, I lose, if they win one, I think I am okay. I may need to update the standings, I may have messed it up somewhere.
April is pretty busy for me, but there will be opportunities in May after the Derby Party on the 3rd.

Your calculations are right-my bad.
Although, I think the Penguins are now 10-9.
May is filling up also...

With the Caps officially going to the playoffs, I think that calls for an extra round of Vienna Inn dogs. :)

So, are you treating Fritz? :)
It is too bad nobody wants to include the playoffs, especially since every team is in.

If the Caps and Flyers want to put 3rd place on the line given that they are matched up in the playoffs, feel free....
