Another Loss for the Flightless Birds!!!
Penguins cannot fly, cannot soar, cannot win. With the all-star break this weekend the Flyers go out on a high note with a 4-0 record with their fellow Commonwealthers from Pittsburg. This victory partnered with The Devils loss puts the Flyers in first place in the Atlantic Division. I am sure that once again the P-burg Gov. will say "we would have won if Crosby was playing" you can't put all your hopes and dreams onto the shoulder of one player, they will crumble faster than that sorry excuse for a rink y'all play in. So enjoy the All Star game fellas, I know I will.

So I can't make excuses for the fact that not only we were missing the best player in hockey, but also our starting goaltender (out for 2 months), our 2nd best defender (out for the season), along with 4 other regulars who weren't playing (for injuries ranging from a broken leg to mono?) How about the fact that our entire 4th line was playing in their 2nd ever NHL game? The fact that the dirty Flyers only managed to win the game by a goal is amazing! (Nice way to run our goaltender in the first period, by the way!)
Once a dirty FLyers fan, always a dirty Flyers fan!

Best player in hockey? -- Doesn't Vinny Lecavalier play for the Lightning? Or perhaps you meant Jarome Inglia? There is some Russian in D.C. who is doing okay too :)
Let's see you've
* made excuses
* denigrated the opposition
* ignored that your "backup" goaltender has been red hot
Once a whiny Pittsburgh fan, always a whiny Pittsburgh fan!

The only people who don't think Sidney is the best player in hockey are Caps fans! It is WIDELY acknowledged, outside of Pittsburgh, that Sidney is the best. Sidney makes his teammates better, and their swoon without him proves that! In his 2nd season in the league, how did the Caps do with Ovechkin? Oh yes, he missed the playoffs! The Pens and Sidney finished as the #5 seed.
I will conceed that I denigrated the opposition, but isn't that what La Coupe Hauxer is all about? (The Flyers GM started it anyway!)

And if we need a more objective way to measure it--who had the most points in hockey last year?
Um......that would be Mr. Crosby! (not Ovechkin, Ingla, etc).

Shouldn't the best player in hockey know not to go blade first into the boards?

I like to think of the best player in hokckey being a goalie, and the reason that the Devils haven't missed the playoffs since before nearly all of us started college.
