La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Tiebreaker

In the event of a tie between Pittsburgh and New Jersey I propose two variations of the same solution.
  • Street hockey shootout -- A player from each team shall face the other player in a head-to-head shootout in street or floor hockey. Obviously, equipment is an issue. Each player would have three chances to score on the other player. Standard NHL shootout rules would apply.

  • Broomball shootout -- The same as above, except with broomball. How you ask? The Capitals Kettler Iceplex rents out rinks for $300 an hour. We could make this the marquee attraction to proceed an hour of broomball. 15-20 other people would be recruited to join in and minimize the cost. This is a good idea whether we have a La Coupe Hauxer tie or not.
Either solution would be videotaped for posterity.
