La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

The whiner is the winner!

Now, I'm not talking about Sidney Crosby (who'd I have started to respect had he not whined about hats on the ice), I'm talking about Sam. After all of the "I don't think the playoffs should count" whining, his Pengyunz go out and win the deciding game of La Coupe Hauxer in a game 7 of a playoff series. Come to think of it, Brad whined that playoffs should not count either and he won it the first three times. Hmmm, maybe I need to change tactics.

Nevertheless, I am glad it was won in the playoffs rather than the regular season, even though it cost me. Having won it based only on the regular season would have been a Pyrrhic victory. Also, Wiley won the Stanley Screwdriver and owes us Vienna Inn, so that is what really matters.

I'm off of the playoff whining this season. It's hard to argue against it after having essentially a championship game. Although doesn't it stink a little knowing that Sam won because he got a LCH first round matchup and you didn't?

No, the soapbox I'm on now is to even out the regular season matchups by deciding before the season which games will count and which will not, so that each team is playing the same number of regular season games. That way, Sam isn't having to win 16 games to out-do your 10.

Well, you have to blame yourself for losing the trophy, but it sounds like you aren't that upset about it. As I stated on WWN, I was willing to discuss a joint trophy, but if you don't want to, then I will accept the outright title. I agree with Brad's position.

Regardless of post-season or not, Wiley is buying....
