La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

Isn't it funny how Will could have clinched the title already? He is the one who was adamant to include the playoffs (which I still protest). And now, his proposal may come back to bite him.

This isn't a president's trophy. Why eliminate the most important games from consideration?

For the obvious reason. What happens if the Capitals playoff run doesn't include a matchup w/ any La Coupe opponents, but NJ waxes Pittsburgh in round 1? That could vault Brad ahead of you because he had an opportunity to move ahead that you did not.

The way the Devils are playing right now he might finally get the damn screwdriver, which would be just fine with me. Its a close cup this year, I say bring on the playoffs.

Of course you want the playoffs...you have nothing to gain if we don't use them! Sadly, the Penguins will be playing one of your teams in the first round, a virtual certainty.

Wiley needs to win this series in less than 7 games to beat me. Two more victories and I'm safe!

    I am now 10-8, Wiley is 7-11.

I've given up the fighting about the playoff system this season. It's a dead end argument. No, now I will bitch and moan about the fact that while the Devils, Flyers, and Pens have to play 16 regular season games, the Caps only play 12.

I'm personally in favor of (a) preselecting only 4 of the 6 games the Atlantic Division teams play against each other so that all teams play 12 La Coupe Hauxer games in the regular season, or (b) demanding that Will becomes either a Rangers or Islanders fan.

Although I doubt he'd agreed with option b.

You have not minded us buying you dinner with this system though. Why make it more complicated?
